Crankworx is back in Rotoruafor another year and the 2019 festival is set to be one of the biggest yet. From March 19 to 24, Rotorua will once again become the mountain biking capital of the world as Crankworx kicks off their 2019 world tour.

Crankworx Rotorua was born in March 2015, becoming the first Crankworx festival in the Southern Hemisphere and has established itself as a favour for competitors and spectators alike. Every year, the festival brings the best in the world to show off their skills and speed through courses across our amazing city.
On Day One of the festival, there will be free access to the 100% Dual Slalom event at the ‘Wattles’ on Tarawera Rd, while the remainder of events will be ticketed. Across the six days in 2019, spectators will be treated to approximately 10 events spread across several locations in Rotorua. The festival’s main events are held at Whakarewarewa Forest and Skyline Rotorua.

Enthusiasts & Racers
Top events include Maxxis Slopestyle in Memory of McGazza and the Rotorua Air DH presented by Bosch. The Maxxis Slopestyle is set in the mighty Redwoods of Skyline Rotorua and was built by kiwi legend Kelly McGarry and his building partner Tom Hey. The course is said to be one of the best slopestyle courses in the world and the event is now named after McGarry who died in 2016. The marquee event of the festival brings together the top athletes eager to show off their big bag of tricks they have been working on over the off season.

To get the community involved, Rotorua Air DH presented by Bosch aims at bringing the wider biking community together into the international Crankworx scene. In this open-entry downhill course, amateurs and professionals alike are invited to get amongst the tables, step downs and step ups on the famous Mr Black trail at Skyline’s Gravity Mountain Bike Park.
